9 Months

Hudson, you are nine  months old today.  You were in moms belly for nine months, actually a little longer.  That is so surreal to think about.  You have only been with us nine months, and I cannot remember what life was like before you.  I am starting to work on plans for your first birthday, I still cannot believe you are almost one.  I want to do something great for your birthday, but not go overboard.  We have had some serious fun, and major milestones this past month.

Height/Weight:  I took you to the Dr on Friday and you weighed 20 lbs 14 ounces.  Almost 21 lbs, and I am still lugging you around in your infant carrier.  As much as I enjoy the arm workouts, it is time for a big boy car seat.  You are 28 inches long.  You only grew an inch from your 6 month visit.  You are right about the 50th percentile for your height and weight.

Eating:  You LOVE your bottles.  We give you 6 ounces every four hours.  You will have nothing to do with baby food, so we feed you all table food now.  I usually give you a little bit of whatever we are eating, and you have not met a food you did not like.  You really like peas and broccoli.  You do really well with pretty much anything I give you to eat.  I just have to be careful not to put too much on the tray, because you shovel it in your mouth by the handfuls.  We are still working on the sippy cup.  You are not crazy about it, but will drink it if we hold it up to your mouth.  I have only put water in your sippy cup, I want to hold off from juice as long as possible.

Sleep:  You were sleeping really well in your bed until the past week.  We give you a bath, play for a little while, and put you down between 6:30-7:00.  You always go down really well, and wake up once at night.  If you do not go back to sleep after drinking your bottle I will put you in bed with us.  I think you are trying to cut more teeth, so you have been up a lot at night, and really fussy the past week.  Speaking of teeth, you have two bottom teeth.  You have bit me several times.

In the two weeks after I did your 8 month post you went from laying down to sitting up ,and crawling.  You are on move, and rarely sit still and play anymore.  There can be a mound of toys on the floor, and you want to immediately crawl to the steps, or something else you should not be climbing on.  I have starting putting you in your crib with toys to keep you contained if I am making dinner.  You no longer sit in your activity seat.  You have figured out how to take the covers off of the air vents in your room.  Something is going to have to be done about this before you end up under the house.

Speaking of your crib.  You have discovered the monitor.  If we lay you down and you do not go to sleep immediately this is what we see when we look at the monitor.  Shortly after the screen goes blank.....
We even tried tricking you and moving it around, but you are not to be fooled my friend.  Looks like daddy is going to have to mount it on the wall next to your crib.

You also love taking your bumper pad off...

You have become quite the character these days.  I am sure it has everything to do with you being my baby, but I think you are hilarious.  It's like you know when you are doing something wrong, because you will look at me with this huge grin as you are doing it. You have started to belly laugh. and the smallest things can crack you up.  You think you are such a funny guy, and will crack up at yourself for no reason.  It is also as if you know to put on a show as soon as I break my camera out, because you start cheesing.

You "talk" all the time.  In fact you even do it in your sleep.  You are like your mommy when you wake up, you literally sit straight up out of a dead sleep, and hit the ground running before you are fully awake. You are starting to repeat us when we say "bye bye" which is adorable.  We are still working on the wave, and I have started working with you on sign language.

You LOVE to watch Barney.  You are such a busy little bee that it will only hold your attention for a few minutes at a time, but you will stop whatever you are doing to watch it.

We spent many days at the pool this past month.  You are still getting adjusted to it, but you like it more and more each time.

You still love bath time.  I used to be able to give you a bath every other day.  Now that it is summer, and you are crawling around and playing more it has become a nightly ritual for us.  It is also a plus, because it wears you out, and helps you go to sleep faster.

You have started wearing big boy pj's. and you look so cute in them.  I feel like your clothes are more "grown up" now. Speaking of clothes, you are in 12 month clothes now.

Now that your Aunt Ashley is out of school it is just you and Nana everyday, and you are getting spoiled rotten.  I think you miss seeing the girls, because you get so excited when you see them now.

We celebrated your daddy's first actual father's day. I am going to do a separate post with all of the detail on that later in the week.

We went on our first "camping" trip at the farm.  It is not actually camping, but we spent the night out there.  You could ride around in the mule for hours, as long as we are moving you are happy.

You love to be outside.  We spend most afternoons swinging, and riding in your car.  Speaking of, I have got to remember to take pictures of you in your car, because you are hilarious.  It is easier to keep you occupied, and entertained outside than inside.

Hudson,
We cannot even put into words how much we love you.  I thank God everyday for bringing you to us, and thank you for choosing us to be your parents.  Each month gets better and better.  I can barely even remember the long nights of crying and frustration when you were a newborn.  As much fun as you are these days it makes me sad to see you going from a baby to a little boy.  You are growing up before our eyes, and I want to cherish every single moment.  Your friend Ethan is going to be born in a few weeks, and I cannot wait for you all to meet.  I know you are going to be so close, and I am sure get into lots of trouble.  You go at everything with full force, and are all boy.  We are so excited for the next month, because we are going on our first family trip to the beach.  I cannot wait to see what you think about it, and make many family memories.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
