Under the Weather

Sorry I have been MIA this week, we have had a rough week in the Graves house.  Friday my throat was hurting so I went to the Dr, and he confirmed I had strep throat.  I felt awful all day Saturday, and started feeling so much better Sunday.  My throat started hurting again on Wednesday, so I called my Dr, and he told me to come in.  Turns out I have mono.  I have been so tired and achy this week, and I just thought it was the strep.  On top of being so tired from mono Hudson has been up every two hours the past two nights.  Hopefully this weekend is going to be filled with lots of R&R so that I am back to normal by next week.  I hope to be feeling better by Sunday, and I plan on doing a thorough cleaning on our house to get rid of all the sickies.  I feel like this past month me or Hudson has been to the doctor once a week.  I will get back to blogging next week, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

7 Months

Hudson, you are seven months old today, and I feel like this past month went by quicker than most.  You have almost been here with us longer than you were in my belly, that is so hard to imagine.  You are getting too big too fast, mommy needs you do start taking your time.

I would say you are around 18 lbs now.  I am not sure about your length.

You are still not a huge fan of baby food.  We are doing really well if we can get you to eat a whole jar.  You do not like fruit much at all, which is so weird to me, but you will eat veggies really well.  You get a jar of oatmeal for breakfast, and a fruit and veggie for dinner, well what you will eat of them.  You are still drinking 4 oz of formula every 3-4 hours, except at night.  Sometimes you are every two hours at night.  As far as table food we have tried crackers, watermelon, and strawberries, you seemed to like all of them.  I am not real crazy about giving you table food, because I am terrified of you choking.

Your sleeping in still pretty random.  The other night you slept from 7:30-12:30 in your crib, last night you were up every two hours.  You actually go down really well in your bed, and would probably sleep there all night, but mommy thinks your monitor looks like the screen from The Poltergeist.  It picks up on every little sound, and I am certain there is a little Gremlin that lives in your room.  Needless to say whether you are in your bed or ours I rarely get sleep.

Mommy left you for the weekend for the first time this month, and it was extremely hard.  I held it together until I got in the car, and completely fell apart.  I know you were in good hands with your daddy, and I needed the time away with my girlfriends.  I am not ready to do that again for a long time.  Daddy said you slept like an angel while I was gone, and it was my fault you are up all night.  I am fairly certain you were up, daddy just didn't hear you.

You had your first Easter, and the Easter Bunny was very good to you.

Daddy came home with a new swing for you a few weeks ago, and you love it!  We spend most of our afternoons in the back yard swinging, playing, or going on walks.

You are still just sitting up, and not interested in moving around.  You will lean forward and act like you are going to crawl, but end up just getting stuck, and screaming.  You love to stand up, and want us to hold you up all the time.  I peeked in on your the other day playing in your bed.  Last month I couldn't even see your head when you were sitting up in your bed.

You have graduated from the baby bath tub to your duck tub.  We got it out for you the other night, and daddy blew up up.  Once you were in it we realized you are not going to be using it for long.

You are such a busy little boy.  You used to be so content just being held or riding around in your stroller.  Now if you are being held you are reaching and trying to grab anything in sight.  We went to target to help Brittany register yesterday, and you did not want to sit in the cart, but when  I picked you up you wanted me to hold you, and you push the cart.

You have started this new thing where you just like to scream for no reason.  I had you in your high chair while I was making dinner last night, and you were clinching your fist and screaming your head off.  It is really special, and does not make mom crazy at all.

You are definitely Luke Graves child.  You are so stubborn and only do what you want to do, when you want to do it, and have such a temper.  Lord help us all.

You and Maddie are so cute together, but you are starting to "fight" more.  If one of you has something, the other one wants it.

You got this little dog for Christmas and have not paid much attention to it until now. You are so funny when I turn it on your kick and laugh

Your vocabulary consists of ma ma, da da, and na na.  You said da da first, and I told everyone you didn't know what you are saying, but now that you say ma ma I know you are sure of what you are saying :)

You have been a little sickling this past month.  We have made several trips to the Dr.  We went for a high temp, and they had to make sure you did not have a uti, so that had to do a cath, you screamed, and it hurt my heart so much.  It ended up being a viral infection, and you had a stomach virus last week.

Hudson, you are the light of our lives and continue to amaze us everyday.  We are planning a trip to the beach this summer, and we cannot wait to start this tradition.  You are such a sweet little boy, you can give me that gummy grin, and it makes my day.  We love you so much, and cannot wait to see what is in store this next month.

Girls Trip 2012

Every Spring I get together with 3 of my best girlfriends for our annual girls trip.  This tradition started five years ago, and I am so happy we have stuck with that vow we made to each other when we were in college.  This year was extra special because it marked the five year anniversary, two of us have 6 month old babies, one is pregnant, and a new job.  We all have hectic lives with so much going on, so it is nice to take a little getaway, and catch up on each others lives.  Not to mention a whole weekend of uninterrupted sleep.....I am in!  When we came up with the idea we decided we would visit a different city every year, starting small, and working our way up to something fabulous, like a Mediterranean Cruise....girls can dream right?  This year we chose Charlotte, not only is it a great town, but Katie lives there!  She moved there for her job almost a year ago, and has had nothing but great things to say about it since calling it home.  She was such a fabulous host, and showed us everything Charlotte had to offer.  Me and Brittany live here in Nashville, and Shannie lives in Chattanooga, so we all hit the road Thursday afternoon.

Upon our arrival to Katie's apartment she has this wonderful spread laid out for us.

Of course she made sure we were stocked up with PLENTY of wine and champagne.  Complete with alcohol free wine for Brittany.

The night we all went alumni for our sorority Katie gifted us all with a special wine glass and a toast.  We bring our wine glasses on our trips, and use them for the weekend.  In the picture frame is a copy of the toast.  She also gave us a bottle of our favorite wine, and a CD with memorable songs from all of our trips.  You are so thoughtful Katie, thank you so much!

Then she took us all down memory lane with pictures from our college years, and all of the trips we have been on.  Again, creative, and thoughtful.

However, we are still sleeping on air mattresses like we did on Spring Break.

Friday night, we spent our night hanging out, drinking wine, and talking for hours.

We decided to make an exception and allow Ethan to come with us this year.  I hope he soaked it up, because this is the last time we let him come with us :)

You would think being able to sleep in as late as we wanted without having to worry about a baby to tend to we would have taken advantage.  Nope, we were up by 7AM.  We made breakfast, had bloody Mary's, and mimosas, and did what all girls love to do....went and got mani/pedis.  After that we piddled around town a bit, and went to lunch at this great little burger place called Pinky's.  That afternoon we did a little shopping, and headed to our hotel.  After a rough plane ride home from New Orleans a few years ago, we decided it would be best to have our "big" going out night on Friday.  Katie wanted to feel like it was a vacation as well, so she booked a hotel room a block from where we would hit the town that night.  We relaxed, napped, gushed over the news breaking about Angie and Brad getting engaged, and got ready for our night out.

This mama was ready to party!

Before our to die for dinner at Osso.  This place was wonderful, and had the perfect atmosphere for our girly night out.

Cheers to 10 YEARS of friendship.

Brittany and I shared the Lobster Bolognese, and it did not disappoint.

After dinner we went back to the hotel to drop Brittany off (I cannot imagine why a pregnant woman did not want to hit the town with us ha), caught a cab, and went to the Epicenter.  This place was like a playground for adults, we hit a lounge first, then danced the night away at a few different places.  We were so proud of ourselves for making it out late, and definitely have some wonderful stories to look back on next GT.

Saturday morning we peeled ourselves out of bed, and went to brunch.  We spent the remainder of the day vegging out on Katie's couch watching movie after movie....literally.

Saturday night we made a fancy dinner at home.  Yes those are crab legs, and they were delicious!  There is just something about sitting around a table, drinking wine, and talking that puts me in my happy place.  Those are the moments I cherish the most on these trips.

After dinner we packed our mini wine bottles and hit the late showing of Titanic in 3D.  Unfortunately Rose did not let Jack on the board (I have never understood why that broad didn't move over and let him on there with her), but the movie was just as good seeing it for the 9 millionth time.

Sunday morning we packed up and headed back to TN.  I think these trips mean more and more to me every year.  The older I get the more I cherish this special bond I have with these ladies.  It is so fun to see how much has changed from year to year when we get together.  My mom once told me if you can make it through life with one best friend you should consider yourself lucky, I am clearly beyond blessed.  Even though I missed Hudson like crazy I needed a weekend away to enjoy myself.  I am so lucky to have a husband that is willing take care of our baby, so that I can go on this trip.  I am already looking forward to next year's trip!

Easter 2012.

Hudson had a wonderful first Easter.  The Easter Bunny visited him in three different places, he is one blessed little boy.  We woke up bright and early to get ready for church, and he found this:

Of course we had to play with all of his loot.

After his bath I started getting him ready, and the meltdown begins...

He finally got it together, and we headed to church.  After church we stopped by Luke's grandmothers house for a little while.

Luke's Parents

Mimi

All the kiddos

By the time we got to my family he was all worn out.
After a power nap it was back to picture taking.

Getting love from Jill.

The best picture of the day.

Next up, pictures with Maddie

We are starting to lose them.

There goes the bow....

Over it.

The grass is way more fun.

Macy Kate took a spill in the driveway as soon as she got there, so this is the extent of her picture taking.
After we finished eating, and cleaned up we headed to Nana and Paw Paw's to get their Easter baskets.

We had such a wonderful Easter, and feel so blessed.  I hope everyone else had a great Easter.
