Christmas Recap

I am going to make this short and sweet, because I am heading out the door to pick up my sweet baby boy and start our four day weekend.

This was by far the best Christmas we have ever had, it had nothing to do with the gifts, and everything to do with waking up with this blessing on Christmas morning.

All the kiddos at my moms Christmas Eve

My sister reads "Twas the night before Christmas" every year.

I had hats with our family farm logo made for all the guys

The boys got new guns

If you look there are two envelopes on the entertainment center,
they had pictures of me and my sisters ipads in them!
They came in yesterday, and I am having a blast with it.

Hudson's stocking with goodies from Santa.

Hudson was so spoiled, and got too many things to name, but I had
to show a pictures of his new TOMS....so CUTE!

Aunt Allie bought Hudson his first fishing hat!  I
am sure he will be wearing it this summer
at the farm since Paw Paw stocked the pond with
catfish.

I think I had more fun opening Hudson's gifts than I did my own!  We are so blessed to have this little boy, and he made Christmas so much sweeter this year.  I hope everyone has a wonderful NYE, unfortunately I will not have a exciting recap, because we plan on ringing in the New Year in our PJ's at home.

Time Capsule Ornaments

My sister found this adorable idea for time capsule ornaments online, and we decided to make them for our kids.  We were not real sure what we were doing, but once we got started on them we LOVED the idea.  We are definitely going to make this a tradition that we do every year from now on.  Since this was our first year doing them they are not great, but we are hoping to get better each year.

Macy Kate entertained Hudson while we worked.

I am sad this is the only picture I took of the process, we bought clear ornaments that open up, and put pictures inside with modge podge.  My sister bought Christmas scrap booking paper, and we wrote things that happened throughout the year (or things we want to remember, milestones) on strips of paper.  You can add anything you want inside the ornament, but we just went with the paper this year.

Write the baby/child's name, add some ribbon, and voila!

OK, mine did not turn our as well as my sister's did, I printed a picture that was way too big.  It actually does not look as bad in person as it does in the picture, and from far away the picture looks decent.  Like I said, this year was trial and error.

The little strips of Christmas paper look so cute!

I am sure there will be a few tears shed next year when we open these ornaments, and read what is inside.  I am so happy that we have started this tradition, hopefully our children will appreciate this when they are older, I know we will.

Our Christmas Decorations

Some of you may know by now that I LOVE the holidays, and I love decorating our house.  I always try to get our decorations out the weekend before Thanksgiving, so we have plenty of time to enjoy them.  I do have a confession, I am not a huge fan of a lot of outdoor decorations.  I just like the simple wreaths, and candles in the windows.  I told Luke, once Hudson gets older he will have to start putting lights up outside.  We finally finished our den (after flood damage), and started using it this year.  We have a HUGE window in that room, and I realized I need a bigger tree, so I will be on a mission the day after Christmas.  I decided to go with a new theme/decorations for our newly renovated room, so the decor is minimal.  I plan to get more decorations and ornaments for my tree the day after Christmas.  Here are our decorations this year...

I am looking for a new topper this year as well, I was going to make a bow, but it ended in disaster

I grouped my Christmas balls, and helps with the bare spots on the tree.
I am weird and like to match my wrapping paper with my tree.

I never know what to do with my Christmas cards, so I just taped them to the wall.  I am on the lookout for something to hang in that spot next year to put them on....I need to make a list for the day after Christmas shopping. I just noticed Jax in this picture....sneaky little guy.

No mantle, use the staircase :)
I LOVE the way our stockings turned out this year, simple and classic. I ordered them from Pottery Barn.

I love my lanterns on the steps, I just change out what is inside them with the seasons.

I think my TV stand needs garland with lights next year.  I had a poinsettia on there, but it bit the dust.

I framed our Christmas card to add to the decorations, I really like the way it looks, so I think this will be something I do every year.

I think I went a little overboard decorating with Christmas balls this year.  Please excuse my mess from wrapping gifts.

So, there you have our little humble abode, I am going to be sad when it all has to come down.

3 Months

I feel like these monthly posts come quicker and quicker each month.  We do not go back to the pediatrician until his four month check-up, so I don't have his weight and height, but I can definitely tell he has grown.

Hudson, at three months old you have developed such a personality.  I know I say that every month, but it is amazing how much you change day to day.  It seems like the older you get the faster time goes by.  I try to cherish every moment with you, because I can already tell that you are not going to be my baby very long.  I may or may not have put off all of my errands and wrapping,  and just held you all day yesterday, and felt completely justified.

A BIG change from last month is, you are no longer sleeping with us!  We have not made the big move into your crib, but you are sleeping in our bedroom in your pack n play.  We have decided that you, mommy, and daddy all sleep better now.  You are still not very consistent with your sleeping, some nights you will sleep six hours straight, others you are up every two hours.  You use to hate to be swaddled, now that is the only way you will sleep.  If you are not swaddled you sleep with your hands above your head.

You are still breastfed, but we have started to supplement with formula, because I do not make enough milk to keep up with your appetite.  You have been an eating machine lately, and have been eating every 1-2 hours day and night it seems like.  I have started giving you formula to give myself a break, and so you get nice and full.  You do really well with formula, so that will make me feel better when I do stop breastfeeding you.  I am excited to start you on cereal next month, in hopes that it will help you sleep longer.

You stay with your Nana, Macy Kate, and Maddie everyday, and it is so sweet to see you and Maddie together.  She is a little older than you, and she reaches her arms out to you all the time, and gives you kisses.  I know that you all will be so close growing up, which makes my heart happy.  Macy Kate loves to take care of you, and she even gave your one of her "night night's" to take home the other night.  Your Say-Say comes to see you everyday, and your eyes light up with when you see or hear her.

You are still very curious about Jax, and he thinks you are the greatest thing.

I like to think you are a mama's boy, however you are very fond of your daddy.

You are finally starting to fill out your three month old clothes, and you are wearing more "big boy" clothes now.

You went to your first family Christmas in Gatlinburg this month.

Went to your first Christmas parade

Went to your first Christmas PJ party, and got lots of love!

You are trying SO hard to roll over, and you are almost there!
I think by my next post you will be a pro!

You are really starting to take interest in your toys,
you like holding and sucking on them.

You hate to be in the car or in your seat, this is something I hope gets better soon, because nothing shoots your mommy's nerves more than you screaming your head off in the car.

You still spit up.....A LOT.

You love to smile and "talk".

Here you are this morning, thrilled that you are being photographed.

There were lots of firsts for you this month Hudson, and this weekend is going to be your first Christmas.  We are so excited to have our own bundle of joy to wake up with Christmas morning.  Having a baby during the holiday season is such a blessing, and makes everything so much more exciting.  We are excited to start  Christmas traditions with our own little family, and continue them in the years to come.  We never knew that we could love something so much, and we cannot wait for more firsts in the next month!

Christmas Parade

Two weeks ago our little town had its annual Christmas parade, we live right off the road the parade goes down, so this has become a tradition for us. Unlike the Nashville parade, it is just a old fashion parade with the local businesses and school football, cheerleader, and dance teams. They started having the parade at night two years ago, and it is so much better!

it is impossible to get this child to look at the camera

MK and our neighbor Trinity were so excited!

Hudson and Maddie spent most of the time in their seats

Look who woke up just in time to watch!

All the excitement wore him out.

I am so excited for to take Hudson to this parade next year when he will actually know what is going on.
